The Seamless Fluid-Applied Reinforced Roofing System (FARR)

What Is It?

First, it is NOT a coating. It’s a unique, state of the art roofing system that’s a custom made, on site manufactured roof membrane. By its nature of being fluid applied, it is 100% adhered to the roof substrate - without adhesives or fastener penetrations. It is comprised of multiple layers of waterproof emulsion and high strength, stitch woven polyester, with the top layer being a highly reflective, acrylic radiant barrier. Once the system has been completed, the entire roof, including all penetrations, curbs,  parapet walls, etc., is “encapsulated” into one seamless, monolithic membrane.

Limitations of factory-made membranes

According to various studies, a 100,000 square foot building with a single ply membrane roofing system will have roughly 60,000 fastener penetrations into the underling metal deck. Fastener penetrations that have broken the galvanized finish on the roof panel can begin to completely rust out.
In addition, single ply membranes normally require heat-welded seaming. It is estimated that for every 10,000 feet of roof there would be 15,000 linear feet of potential seam failure – which would result in difficult to isolate water penetration.
